I hope you are all having a great Advent and will be able to spend Christmas with your families. I am beginning a novena to Our Lady of Guadalupe today in thanksgiving of the miracle of the coming of my & my husband’s first child. I feel a very special affinity to Mary while I am expecting during the Christmas season. Also, I prayed a novena the month he/she was conceived and I am sure that she intercessed, which encouraged God to answer our prayers. Our Lady of Guadalupe is also the patron saint of the pro-life movement, so I’d like to invite you to join me in making this novena!

If you haven’t delved into JPII’s Theology of the Body yet, I highly recommend it. It’s a series of his Wednesday audiences on the relationship between women & men and our bodies’ role in salvation. There are a series of workshops run by the folks from JPII Institute of Marriage & Family in DC which are also very good if you can find a satellite group near you. I was part of one in Boston that was very good. If Theology of the Body itself is too hard-going (it’s pretty philosophical), then I hear Christopher West’s book on Theology of the Body for Beginners is quite a good lay synopsis. Lots of good stuff from the Church on marriage & family! Good luck!
