Tented in June on Ocracoke – Will tent in CA in a couple weeks on the Lost Coast. Hopefully a couple more times before the year is out – Maybe to Ocracoke again, maybe just car camping nearby to get a fix!

How I did it: I finally started researching using henna to keep my red hair after years of chemical dying - I would have done it sooner, but my hairdresser is not only awesome at what she does, but a really wonderful person too and I know I won't see her very much anymore now :( My scalp started having some yucky reactions to the dyes, and I had already systematically removed anything unidentifiable from my hygiene/beauty stuff - my red hair was the on… Read how I did it…
How I did it: This needed to be a simple process for me - I'm not a pro, but photos are worth more to me than any posessions I have. First I needed a new external hard drive as a primary backup and a new internal hard drive because my photos were starting to really try the limitations of it, even though I only keep the most recent portion of my library there. Finally, we set up a workstation where I can plug in my computer and both external drives are … Read how I did it…
How I did it: This goal was a bit of a cheat - I was almost there when I started 43 things. Over the last few years my husband and I have been eating more and more whole, organic, and locally grown foods. It has been a process and a long time in the making. This year Tad learned to cook and I learned to cook better, and now our cupboards are stocked with whole ingredients rather than packaged or processed foods, and we haven't eaten out in a very long … Read how I did it…

We are pretty much on course here, despite a few financial distractions over the last couple months. And a big HURRAY, because of the consolidation, it’s much easier for us to see progress since the money is being applied to just a couple places.
Recently, we decided to sell our second car after thinking on it for awhile. My husband and I are lucky to be able to commute to work together, and our second car (which we own) needed repairs that we weren’t sure we were willing to invest in given the little amount it is actually used. Tonight we’ll sign the paperwork and hand it over to the buyer – despite the repairs, it was still worth a few thousand dollars, so we’ll put all of that straight toward debt as well as any savings from our insurance. Our friends seem to think we’re nuts – what will we do if we need another vehicle or we’re going in different directions? But it happens so infrequently – and in that case, we can rent a vehicle once in awhile much more cheaply than we can maintain one that we don’t use. Our other car is extremely reliable (knock on wood), and if we found we really needed a backup after some time, we could get a decent used car as a second vehicle.
So, very excited. A big wooo-hoooo!! And, with that, we are just a little bit ahead of our goal for the amount we wanted to pay off this year. Seriously awesome. It feels SO good to be making visible progress here.
I think some happy pictures in my dull windowless office would help me feel better about life at work. Last weekend, went to an artwalk and the shared studio of a friend was holding a silent auction – won a mixed media piece – paint/pastel in bright colors, abstract w/ a guitar-ish-looking motif on it. I love it :)
A couple more, maybe I will frame some hiking photos to put up. And maybe a poster from NOJazzfest this month.
