After setting my goal of hiking around Geneva Lake(and somewhat forgetting it…) I am finally making progress on preparing to hike!
The lake is 22-ish miles around, and as this is the equivalent of a marathon pretty much, I know I need to prepare. And so, my hiking buddy, Martha and I have started a walking plan FINALLY! We currently have 3 hikes/walks a week, Monday being our long (3+ hours) hike, and Tuesday and Thursday mornings being short (1.5 hour) hikes. I think we need to be able to hike for at least 5 hours easily before we tackle Lake Geneva, but at least we’re on our way.
Right now we’re aiming to hike in late May, sometime after graduation.

More lately I’ve been working towards the goal of using a reusable bag every time I shop. I think it’s smart really – the plastic bags from the grocery store always seem to break, and I’m entirely irritated by the noise they make. My cat loves when we shop with paper bags (I’ll try to post a picture soon!), but from what I’ve read, paper bags aren’t any more environmentally friendly than plastic.
For christmas I received two new reusable bags – one is a Cubs bag (love it! though some of the Cubs trades lately don’t make me happy…), and the other is a plain black Dominick’s one. I’ve been trying to take one in my purse everywhere we go, because somehow my family always ends up running to the grocery store for “just one thing.” (which always turns into a $50+ purchase, of course) I think the more I make myself prepared ahead of time, the more likely I will be to follow through on the goal!
Wish me luck!

I completed Bradley University DM (Carpe DM!)last weekend! It was fantastic! We raised over $30,000, and I really realized how important the Children’s Hospital is. It was tough at times, but I made it through! One goal on my senior year bucket list down, many more to go (and to think of![]())
Just remember:
Stay positive, surround yourself with friends, believe in what you are doing (“It’s for the kids!”), and keep dancing!
