Okay, so I stood waist-high on a sand dune in the middle of the Caribbean Sea while hundreds of giant stingray swam all around me, brushing my legs with their fins. Then I held one up and pet its back and underbelly while posing for photos. Risky enough?

I was quoted in an article in the New York Times about the predominance of men living in lower Manhattan. I was the one dissenting voice. Everyone I know living down here is female!
