How I did it: i checked with the new york public library online first, to figure out the procedure for renewing my card i went into the main branch and filled out basic information i had a new library card within 15 minutes and could check out books online within 48 hrs cool bonus: i can read the books on my smartphone. now i look forward to long boring subway rides. huzzah!
