My mom has always gotten on my at how bad my spelling is. She has been a secretary/office manager for like 20 years now, so she can spot an error a million miles away. I have slight dyslexia, and spelling is sort of a problem for me. I don’t think it helped reading almost nothing but British authors when I was a kid (I’m American) so when I do spell a lot of things, my first instinct is to spell them the British way.
I think Japanese kana makes a lot more sense- I never misspelled anything in Japanese class because it actually uses a logical syllable system!!

How I did it: Dumpster diving is really popular among my friends and I. It began at the end of the spring semester of my Freshman year at SF State. A few of us stayed in the dorms over the summer time as summer students and RA's. There was so much 'trash' and things that the students who left didn't want, that the trash rooms and the halls were piled up so high, we could hardly walk through it. Among other things, I scored a fre… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I had some trouble finding a place that offered the hours that I could volunteer. Finally, I was able to work for an Associated Student's organization called EROS. EROS educates the student body on sexual health and well-being by providing people to talk to, great seminars, and (everyone's favorite part: free condoms, lube and dental dams!!) Although it isn't an AIDS-specific place, I think I enjoy volunteering there mor… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I worked a heck of a lot harder than I was used too, even with two jobs for most of the time, I stayed up late and gave up what little spare time I had left to working hard. It totally paid off in the end with a Cal Grant and a Pell grant that covered all of my tuition and helped me begin a savings account. Read how I did it…

As a college student, I have been in debt and living paycheck to paycheck for three years. I finally paid off my credit card, and I have gotten a grant to cover this year’s tuition (less debt for graduation! yay) I finally have a little saved up, and after paying expensive San Francisco rent, I want to start saving up so I can move into a nicer place, and have a cushion in case I become unemployed… that kind of stuff.
In high school, I was “most likely to get arrested in a protest” although that category never made it into the yearbook lol. More importantly, I want to be able to make a stand for something I believe in so much, that the fear of being arrested wouldn’t be a factor.
