How I did it: I swallowed my pride and took student drivers lessons. At 20 years, there was something humiliating about being in a classroom with a bunch of 15-year-olds -- the younger siblings of my friends, so I avoided that as much as possible. I spend too much time googling cute persian cats on the internet. It’s 2:50am, and I should be sleeping!

... If I had a cat, I would swaddle him around my head like a turban, and wear him like a hat. We would go everywhere together on great adventures.

website stuff is fun, but making time for it is not when it’s something you HAVE to do, and there are deadlines, and there are 013984012983 other distractions. :( there’s a long weekend coming up, so i’ll have to kick my butt into gear.

let people know I care about them

Today my mom helped me out with something I needed, even though she recently lost her job and is having to find creative ways to pay the bills. I sort of know what she’s going through. This school quarter working isn’t an option for me, so I know what it’s like to worry about how I’m going to come up with money for things like food and dues.

So when she bought me good winter boots, it meant a lot to me. And when I gave her a hug and thanked her, I think it meant a lot to her too. I’m getting older and I’ll be leaving the nest soon, and I want her to know that I won’t forget how much she’s helped me along the way. Her most affectionate child I’m not, but I’m trying to be better.
