I bought one of the rev A Aluminium Powerbooks and, despite a minor issue with the latch that holds the screen shut, I have been very happy with it. That glitch was fixed in later revisions so it should no longer cause problems.
A word of warning: if you are a hardcore game then Macs are not for you but anybody else will fall in love with one.
