Whelp, I got home from college and couldn’t resist going to Half-Price Books and blowing through a $25 giftcard (and that goes a long way when there are 98 cent books to be had). So I got a bunch that I have been wanting to get for a while….but now have 39 books I haven’t read. BETTER GET READING!

How I did it: I took the "cold turkey" route, which was painful at first, but the discomfort only lasted about a week. I started right after I graduated college because I was drinking about 4 cups a day to keep up with my last crazy semester, and it was ironically exhausting--that wired but tired, jittery but fatigued feeling. The side effects were that I basically had a unmedicate-able headache for a week straight, and was pretty cranky, and got some w… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I moved out of my house and got my own apartment, graduated college, got a job, (and had built savings over years) It is a scary experience to be your own only supply of financial stability, but also very liberating! Read how I did it…
How I did it: Completing this goal at the age of 20 is probably one of the things I"m the most glad to have ever done. We all have good days and bad days, but for a while now I have been able to type without looking at my hands, so I think I’ve finally got it! When I’m really tired it’s harder, but for the most part, I can do it. I still sort of glance down every once in a while out of habit, but if I force myself to look at the screen I’m still fine :) Yay!
With Catch-22 I’ve read 79 classics. Counted it up and I read 15 books this school year—that’s not too bad, on top of college schoolwork!
My favorites from this school year were Lolita by Nabokov, Of Mice and Men by Steinbeck, The Stranger by Camus and The Subterraneans by Kerouac. These are MUST-READS!
Good luck everyone! Happy reading!
