I did up some cassia hair mud yesterday and my hair feels great today. The trick is not to expect the same kind of “slip” that fatty alcohol based conditioners give your hair. I mean, it’s MUD in your HAIR. It does make your hair very soft and strong and uberthick feeling. The trick for me this time was to not try to detangle or even touch my hair that much while it was drying. I had no problem running the widetooth comb through it this morning.
My mix—Catherine’s cassia (from hennaforhair.com) About 75 grams
About 30 grams of Indian grocery amla powder (gooseberry)
Add about a 1/4 cup of cheap honey
Pour in strong hot chamomile tea until the mix resembles thinnish pudding.
Glob in hair.
I did not let it sit around for an extended length of time because I wasn’t in the mood to sit around with shower-cap-head but it seemed to work fine with just about an extended shower time limit. I shaved my legs, etc.
Getting cassia out is the tricky part. The honey helps! Also, commit at least half a bottle of cheapy conditioner (I used V05 Tea Therapy) to the rinse out task also.
Feels great! Looks wavy and thick (amla is supposed to coax wave/curls in hair). Need to get more cassia!
