I brought my sheet music when I moved to Portland and within a couple weeks I found out I lived a few blocks from the Community Music Center where they have pianos you can play on for free AND they have baby grands! Amazing.

I went to a public teaching with Yangsi Rinpoche last night. It was a full house but I sat in the back and when he came in I was the first person he had to walk past. He smiled right at me and I was so happy. I loved the practice we did—Medicine Buddha Puja and Tara. I felt so welcome! And I looked at him with so much love and joy as he led us.
Then after I felt funny because I’m not really tied to the center yet—I don’t live or work there. I left immediately and when I got outside I thought I’d go left to my car but I didn’t. I wanted to see Yangsi Rinpoche again so I went right to peer into the building. But he wasn’t here. Just then someone came around the corner and it was him! I stared at him, smiling, and planted myself in the middle of the sidewalk. He walked right up to me and said, “Hi. It’s good to see you.” Then he hugged me.
No words to explain how much that means to me!
I moved to Portland and into a situation where there are two lovely dogs! They are so sweet and fun. It’s wonderful.
