I’m a Canadian (from southern Ontario), and right now I’m living in California for the second time. Both times have been for 4-month internships (I’m a computer science student at the University of Waterloo).
My first time in California was interesting. I was living in San Mateo (just south of San Francisco) and working in Foster City. I didn’t have a car with me, so I was often tied to either my apartment or the office. It was a bit depressing, and I was happy to get back to Canada.
This time, I’m living in San Diego, and things are much better. I drove all the way down here by myself. The drive took 5 days and was quite an experience. I’ve been here for about three weeks now, and I’ve already gone to the beach once, I’ve been to Universal Studios, Hollywood, and I’m going to a taping of “Real Time with Bill Maher” on Friday, and I’m going surfing Saturday morning.
I’m having a great time now. There’s lots to see and do, especially if you have some disposable income. I’m still hoping to plan some time in Balboa Park, The San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld, Disney Land, and many other places.
