I don’t know if I look any younger, but I’ve been taking some steps to eat healthy, to exercise, and to maintain my skin. More importantly, I’ve looked into the daily processes and tried to facilitate upkeep , whether it is finding the right tools or making sure that they can be easily accessed. An example is finding the scent that relaxes me and putting it on my desk, next to my bed, and in a spray bottle so I can bring it with me wherever I go. These small steps of making it easier for ourselves to act constructively are key. Another example is a multicompartment organizer I got recently which I use to store breath mint, face lotion, sunblock, eye cream, floss, q-tip, and eye makeup all in one palm size box. I’ve, since I put all the content in there a week ago, used every content in the box. For example, I’ve been using sunblock and eye cream more often than before. In addition, I travel much lighter now. The other day I notice all the content for a two day weekend trip was in the normal purse that I carried. I don’t know what the long-term results will be but it seems a lot easier nowadays to travel.

Today, I hit a milestone. All the laundry in the house was done. I’ve had days when I did five or six loads of laundry in one day. But this time, it was all done because of the system I’ve set up for myself—every time, I visit my mom’s, I would bring what I have and do it there and instead of using a laundry basket, I use one of those storage canvas bags so it became really easy to carry since the bag didn’t add any extra weight. I’ve been hand washing some of my cloth as well. All these small changes have collectively made a huge difference (my cloth used to pile up since the process of going up and down the building to the laundry room in the basement was really unpleasant).
In summary, I’ve understood myself, obtained the appropriate tools, and organized it in a way so I don’t have to think too hard. I heard recently that in order for you to do something consistently, you have to know yourself and set up a system to minimize any discomfort you get from doing the task. You have to make it as easy and enjoyable as you can. In short, you have to be aware, think, and be creative. At least as they relate to laundry, I think I am there. So, no more cloth around the house! My next step is to give some final touches in organizing the closet—have some kind of well thought out system.
I recently found a company that sells natural cosmetics made of fruit pigments. I bought some and tried them out over the last few days. They seem to work well on my skin. This is a dream come true since I am huge on natural products and antioxidants. Now, you can have assurance that one’s skin is replenishing while they’re wearing make-up. What a great idea.
This evening, I packed away all the synthetic makeups I bought. I notice that I still have these eyeshadows from college—that’s a twelve year old product….gross!
I don’t wear what I bought over the last three years although I keep buying them. I guess I wish I would but inherently I was afraid of what chemicals in these products may do to my skin. But because other people wear them, I was thinking that I can somehow convince myself to. Because I am not sure if the fruit products will work out long-term, I still keep the chemical makeup. In nine months, I hope to throw them away since that means the fruit cosmetic products work out and I don’t need these anymore. I also threw out all the samples or older items. I realize at this moment that I am a few steps closer to finding what I want, I am not going to use these things again. I guess that’s what happens when you get older, you know yourself more and became more realistic.
