Getting started...

Joining a gym can be a bit intimidating for someone who hasn’t been trying to keep in shape for a long time. You walk in and don’t know where to start, how to keep up and of course you’ll feel insecure lifting only a third of what the more experienced guys are lifting. It’ll be hard to keep up your motivation.

That’s why I’ll be taking another approach to getting started to get fit: body-weight exercises at home. Think of push-ups, burpees and such. You can slowly advance to more complex body-weight exercises and go even further by slowly adding weights to them. Do this for a month or two and you’ll be ready to hit the gym with confidence.

Learn R
Getting started

R is known for its steep learning curve, but I’ve set my mind to using R instead of SPSS which is used at college for courses and is even the topic of an exam! I figured I might as well learn the difficult stuff to set myself apart from the masses. First things first… find out all there is about R. Software, websites, books etc. Now I’ve found all my necessary resources I will continue learning R by working my way up from the fundamentals of statistics to the more advanced stuff. This way I will be able to refresh my knowledge of statistics and at the same time complete exercises in R and learn how to use it. This is it for now.. next up are basics and descriptive statistics.
