I love to drum, but unfortuantly I dont have any space in my room for a set. So I gotta go use my friends set.
Guitar is my most favorite instrument. I’ve been playing for a long while, and I’m not too bad. I think if I were going to recommend a beginners guitar setup, I would go for a relatively inexpensive guitar (my first guitar was the Austin Stratocaster, and it was surprisingly built pretty well for a $120 guitar), and a practice amp. My favorite beginner amp is the Fender G-Dec. A tad expensive, but worth it in my opinion. The speaker is a little crap, but the features and effects makes up for it. :)
I personaly don’t know how to read music, I think tabs are just as good. But to each his own. My first song was a one string version of Iron Man which I copyed off of Jack Blacks hands in School of rock.
If you already have a guitar (electric or accustic), I would search online and learn how to read Tablature (TABS). Its very simple to learn and very popular. Then I would look on line for tabs to your favorite songs or scales and practice them.
I also teach guitar a bit, and the main reason why people quit is because they think its too hard or there fingers hurt too bad. This will pass. You just got to keep at it. :)
