So there I was, waiting for a delayed flight to MAN. There was Eno’s “ambient 1” on the ipod.
It just all came together. It worked beautifully. It all made sense.
Now I understand where the title came from. Rather than hearing the air being torn apart by jet engines my ears heard nothing but ambient music. Never before have aeroplanes looked as serene.

I’m really not sure if I’ve actually done this, but it certainly seems more likely.
Basically, for the last five years I’ve been in a soul sapping, confidence destroying hell hole of a company. It left me pretty much destroyed mentally, constantly doubting I could do anything useful. But about 4 months ago I finally got off my arse and went looking for jobs. It wasn’t exactly a fun experience (mainly because of an interview from hell) but I’ve got a new job in a new country. And it’s a vast improvement on the old work.
I’m not entirely sure I’d say I’m passionate about the new work, but I’m more interested in work than I have been in years. Perhaps that was the goal after all?

Looking around for other things I found a book with this title.
It seems like a really good idea. I’m in a long drawn out process of moving house and the less I have the easier it should be. And having a much less will make my house easier to live in.
So the time has come to get rid of 50 things!
