My dangling carrot is finally within reach! I’m heading to Ireland for two weeks… I have a rough game plan, but I’ve only booked something at the beginning and end of the trip; the rest, I’ll decide as I go.

(...oh, and I also went to San Francisco for the weekend recently. That counts as some kind of “travel” in my book. I flew Virgin America for the first time. What a strange but nice little airline…)

I’m grateful for:
1) A competitive job offer
2) A competitive job offer (Given the economy, this deserves extra gratitude!)
3) Very supportive family and friends
4) New hiking boots that don’t make my feet hurt
5) Warm temperatures

Since starting my job hunt in mid-December, I’ve had a total of six interviews with four different companies. I withdrew candidacy from two “C” companies due to bad fit, got turned down by an “A” company, and received a competitive offer from a “B+” company. Not hard to figure out how this one plays out, eh?

It’s been an emotionally grueling couple of months—especially given that the media seems to report mass layoffs daily. Although it may not be perfect, I’m genuinely thankful to receive this job offer and really look forward to going back to work. (Frankly, I was starting to go a little batty.)

Tips: Network, network, network. Be proactive/aggressive. Stay positive.
