This was also pretty difficult, seeing as I live in a tropical country and warm clothes aren’t readily available. But I hung on until a relative went to the US, I gave very detailed specifications and I now have a hip-length black leather jacket that I absolutely love. It’s a classic; get one of these if at all possible.

How I did it: Falling in love is a tricky one. I had said I was done with speculating about relationships, that nothing was going to work out for me, that I was damaged and broken and basically a lost cause. I wasn't going to inflict my sharp edges on anyone. And then I met him. From the moment I first saw him I thought he was amazing. He was the exact opposite of my usual type, but I didn't register that then. We talked, he volunteered h… Read how I did it…
How I did it: It took two years of...experience, really. My gap year between high school and university, and my first year of university. You wouldn't believe how that time changes people. You're at that age when you're discovering who you really are, when you're learning what moves you. And I learned, through trial and error, to have no regrets. It's to do with the people you meet as well, I think. I met some insular folk who never took chances or… Read how I did it…
This was possibly the smartest idea I’ve ever had. I am now the proud owner of two pairs of Converse All-Star Chuck Taylor low-tops, one red and one black. It was difficult for me to get these because I live in Trinidad, and I had to wait until a relative went to the US and could bring them back, but these shoes rock. Don’t hesitate to get a pair!
I started this the day I started my job. It’s a journal as well as a piece of fiction in progress, sort of…I don’t use any real names and I take a certain amount of artistic license with events. But it’s based on fact, and I was never going to be able to stick to anything autobiographical anyway – I’m a fiction writer, hello – so any type of journal was going to turn into a story.
I give a brief account of the events of my day and my thoughts on those events. It’s really quite simple. Plus I keep my laptop next to my bed on constant standby with the journal file open, so before I go to sleep every night I just press a button and bring it up, and proceed to type in my journal entry for the day. I don’t write in it on weekends, however, since the journal is job-based.
