Learn to surf
Woo Hoo! 4 weeks ago

Well I figured since I am living in Hawaii it would be an absolute crime to NOT learn how to surf..after trying to head out and learn on my own..(ya I dont recommend that) ..I went ahead and signed up the kids, my husband, me, my visiting sister and niece! It was so much fun. The surf school provided the board, rashguards for the class. The instructors were lifeguards turned surf instructors and were so chill and knowledgable. we had the little land class on stance, safety and positioning.. then practical application in the ocean! It rocked! Everyone got up and surfed on the first try! It was on Father’s day too so my husband was stoked and so proud of all the kids He said it made his day! Not scary at all..you will do some paddling and test your balance a bit but Worth it!!

get corrective eye surgery or lasik
Freaky 5 months ago

I got the Lasik procedure on Wednesday and I am still getting adjusted to my new vision..I like it, but be warned..If you dont like putting things in your eyes(which I dont) it is unnerving to go through this..No pain. They numb your eyes with drops, hold it open with a speculum, put this pressure cup till your vision blacks out for a second, slice your eye. When they lift the ‘flap’ you are staring at a light and it just turns into a starburst…they make you stare at the red laser light and it starts zapping away..it smells of burning hair, like I said no pain just unnerving. I had to have 50 seconds of zapping. The doc then puts the flap back on straightens it out, washes it out (medicated drops are put in your eyes constantly) Thats it you are done. They look at it under a microscope to make sure it it straight.Mine had a wrinkle so they had to relift the flap and resettle it. FYI There isnt any blood involved but you are staring at a red light throughout the procedure so when you open your eyes for a quick peek all you see is red, and everything lookes bloodbathed!

You are done, but are in a ‘delicate’ state so you have to wear dark sunglasses and relax the remainder of the day, (they gave me a valium to sleep) when you wake up, the numbing drops have worn off so it feels like you have something grainy in your eyes. . They also gave me sleeping goggles so I dont accidentally rub my eyes in my sleep but apparently I just rip the GOGGLES off in my sleep. Lastly, you also have to put in steriod drops to have the swelling go down, artificial tears to keep it moisturized and another antibiotic drop to make sure you dont get an infection.
