I have been struggling to lose weight for the past year. I came to the realization that part of the reason this is so is I am doing it for all the wrong reasons. I am doing it mainly because I think I look ugly and won’t be happy until I do. A large part of me rebels against this idea because I know it isn’t true. Because of this inner rebellion it has just been one step forward two steps back.

How I did it: I researched online and then measured the portions on my plate so that I could have a visual image of what the different portions looked like.At first I thought thought the serving sizes were too small and that I would _surely starve_ then I realised that for many of the food items I eat I am expected to have more than one serving (e.g. grains) per day. How I did it: I removed as much clutter as I could. I established a home for everything. I write everything down, including things I feel I won't forget. I don't collect or take home things I never solicited like pamphlets, brochures etc. I now use an engagement diary. I back-up my files regularly. If a method works for me I write it down and refer to it if I have to do that task again. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I had external motivation- my job requires me to be early so I just had to get out of bed at 4:00 AM. The first week or so will be the hardest. You'll eventually get to the stage where your body wakes itself up early without any prodding. Read how I did it…

Today I wore a pair of beautiful shoes I had been hoarding for one year. They were always too pretty or flashy or expensive to wear but today I just forced myself to wear them.
I have never really had a good body image. As I have got older and gained weight it has got worse.I am improving my body image starting now. It is going to be difficult especially since I actually believe a lot of the stereotypes I have been given.
I have been reading this article and will be applying what I read.
