If you’ve ever grumbled about a snoring bedfellow robbing you of sleep while he or she blissfully saws logs, here’s some surprising news: Snoring bothers snorers, too.
Seems that people with nighttime breathing problems may be 80 percent more likely to develop depression compared to people who breathe (and sleep) soundly through the night. Snoring. Sawing logs. Gasping. Whatever you call it, get it checked out, pronto. You’ll both be happier.

Not thrilled with what you see in the mirror? Have a little chat with your reflection.
If you tend to beat yourself up about your perceived physical flaws, try something called “mirror-exposure therapy.” Here’s how: Look at your reflection and describe your body in objective, nonjudgmental terms. For example, instead of saying “I have fat thighs,” say, “My thighs are fuller than my calves.” Changing the words can gradually change the negative feelings behind them.

Chopped, sautéed, roasted, or caramelized . . . onions liven up the flavor of your foods and boost your cancer-fighting defenses.
The bonus: Onions are a low-calorie veggie bursting with flavonoids, vitamin C, and chromium. Why not make an-onion-a-day a habit? If teary eyes stop you, chill the onion before cutting. Stinky fingers a problem? Swipe your digits with a slice of lemon or a splash of vinegar. Bad breath? Nibble on parsley or apple slices. Or cook the onion first, to release some of the sulfur compounds.
