finally, after nearly two months of searching and dozens of applications and zero responses i was hired by a newspaper, no application and no questions asked. i too had pretty much given up on the chance that i would actually find work, but it came from one of those unexpected places. plus, a week after that, another place i had applied at called me back for an interview. odd. good luck to those who are still searching.
