This has been going great! After the return to work at 8 weeks (I pump 2-3 times per day for her two bottles at day care and nurse her on my lunch hour) and a long struggle with clogged ducts, we’re sailing smooth. LOVE that I don’t have to worry about formula!

How I did it: Talked to a friend to get a recommendation for a lawyer. Had some conversations with hubby about who would care for our child and have certain powers of attorney, etc.Called the lawyer, went in, named beneficiaries, powers of attorney, etc. Went in a couple weeks later and signed all the copies with witnesses. How I did it: Before labor began, I did my best to stay active. I took long walks, rode my bike, and did a prenatal workout 1-3 times per week. I read a bunch about labor and delivery, had long conversations with my husband, and hired a doula. Hubby, who was very active in reading about this with me, was incredibly supportive of my decision to avoid drugs if possible. We had a code word, "Rubik's Cube," so if my labor got too painful, I could use it, a… Read how I did it…
How I did it: This was a long time coming. We started from scratch, and spent over 2 years just trying to get some solid information on where our sewer pipe went under the floor. We finally got some relatively good information from the water department. After that, my hubby and contractor FIL dug up the concrete floor in the basement, and dug down to find the pipes. They also put up the wall studs and installed the shower stall. The plumber came in and … Read how I did it…

This is going well. I’m back at work, and pumping twice a day there. I’ve realized this goal is about not having to feed my child formula, not necessarily nursing exclusively. But I nurse as much as I can.
I really am amazed at the amount of dedication it takes to breastfeed, and I’m so very glad I have the support of my husband and my boss and other people in my life. And of course, that I can look at my little girl and know that I’m doing the best thing I can for her.
So far, so good. Baby is eating well, and growing strong. My breasts are still somewhat tender, but it is improving. Her mouth is just so little!
I’ve also started pumping, so hubby can feed her from a bottle now and then, which gives me more sleep!
