I have always been fascinated by the music and art that has come out of the 300,000 person inhabited Island. The economy is amazing – leading in IT and computer accessibility and expanding in capital markets worldwide at an exponential rate. It is home to the Norse Folklore that inspired Tolkien’s “Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit”, home to musicians like Björk and Sigur Ros.
The Icelandic landscape is supposed to be magnificent, combining snow, fire, ice, steam and their volatile weather and arctic solar patterns (in summer the sun never sets!) and of course – the northern lights.
I can’t wait to go!

I signed up as a volunteer for Travel-to-teach.org which is a non profit organisation. I was then posted to Nong Khai in north-eastern rural thailand where poverty is at it’s peak. There I slept in dormitories with other volunteers and taught english, renovated the schools, taught the monks and was able to travel across the border to Laos.
Other parts of Thailand I went to were the beautiful city of Chiang Mai, Bangkok (not really worth it. It’s like a dirty London) and Koh Chang. DON’T MISS IT!
