How I did it: My roommate and I brewed a couple of batches, but haven't made another in a long time. It's a fun process, but I realized that I much prefer just drinking... For the summer, I had a high school summer intern working with me. It was definitely a great experience. The perspective gained from a mentor role has significantly impacted how much I appreciate the folks that have helped me along the way.
