Today, I am grateful…

for long weekends, my work schedule this summer gives me every Fri, Sat, and Sun off

staying in last night and just listening to other peoples’ fireworks along with the nightly summer chorus of frogs and bugs

lots of time to lie around and read

a nice time out on Friday night; my husband and I are trying a new-to-us local restaurant every week just for fun and because we have gotten in the habit of eating out at the same few places all the time

for the thunderstorms during the night last night…it’s been hot and steamy and rainless lately…everything looked so clean this morning

I've learned if I have a long weekend with no plans, I read :) 22 hours ago

Three more books so far since Thursday evening:

23.The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
24. Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris
25. Gone, the Day by Erik Williams

All of these books were darker and creepier than what I’ve been reading lately. I guess after reading classics and more serious books, I wanted a change. I’ve also noticed I return to horror/sci-fi books frequently; maybe because these are the types of books I enjoyed when I was younger before I branched out into reading other types of things. Maybe a good creepy story is familiar and therefore enjoyable.

I’ve also noticed that the year is halfway over, and I’ve read 25 books so I seem to be on track with my 50 books a year goal.

Book #22 4 days ago

22. Silas Marner by George Eliot.

This one helped me complete another goal.

Reading a couple classics lately reminds me how much I enjoy them most of the time. I may try to fit a few more into my 50 books for the year.
