I read this before East of Eden but forgot about it. This book was very good and very sad. I’m looking forward to the movie coming out.
I’m glad that the novel took place well after most of the humans were wiped out and it never really explained what happened. I didn’t want it to be a newly post-apocalyptic world.

How I did it: I opened a high-interest savings account online, and I just kept trying to put money in it. Sometimes I borrowed against it, and that set me back, but once I paid off all my credit cards, it was easier to put the money away. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I think partly I'm older and less high strung about The Man. Also the recession makes one more grateful for one's job. But mostly, I'm in a great department with great managers, and even when there's a lot to do, it's not high stress. I truly am content about my job. Read how I did it…
How I did it: Why do I have to write these stories? This isn't why I signed up for this website!Anyway, for quite a few months I was thinking the world was going to end and we were going to run out of energy and it would all be post-apocalyptic. I finally stopped thinking that way because it was too depressing. The world will probably not end, and even if it does, there's nothing I can do about it anyway. I can just do what I can each day to be happy. Read how I did it…

I read this book a month or so ago. It was incredible. Very long but didn’t feel like it. Felt like THE book, as if nothing had to be written after it. I’d read it again and recommend it to everyone.
I applied to the MFA program at Ohio State last December, and I just found out that I didn’t get in. Boo!
I probably won’t apply next year. I’m going to wait till we’re ready to move, then apply to a bunch of great programs, then move to where I get accepted.
