After I got back from Peru I had dropped about 13 pounds! I was never overweight but the difference I felt in my energy level was amazing. My weight went back up for a little while, but I am getting close to being that weight again. I have been exercising at least 3 days a week for a couple months now (minus a week long bout of food poisoning!) and it’s amazing how energized I feel. I’m able to wake up earlier and be more alert during the day. When I exercise I find myself eating better too which is great too. Of course the weight is great, but honestly feeling this good is worth it. I won’t consider this goal met until I maintain it for at least a year but I am on my way!

How I did it: I volunteered in an orphanage in Peru. I lived with a host family and got to practice my spanish all at the same time. It was definitely a learning experience and one I will never forget. I feel so proud of myself that I was actually able to go to a completely different place all by myself. I feel like I can take on anything now. Read how I did it…
I recently started my first block of nursing school and this has helped with this goal very much. The type of person you encounter in nursing school is so much different than the type of person I would run into in art school. I am making some really good, reliable, caring friends and I am feeling so much happier for it. I’ve been ridding my life of friends who are judgmental of other people. I never realized that even just being around those people, even if I didn’t believe or agree with what they were thinking, made me feel like the world was such a more harsh place. Being around people who are happy and open to others makes everything in life seem so much more simple and enjoyable. This is definitely a goal I am maintaining for life!
I have finally realized that it’s easy to make friends everyday. They don’t have to be your BEST friends or someone you tell all your secrets to. Friends can be as simple as someone you chat with at the gym or in class. I have enough lifelong friends as I need and am happy with the friendships I make that make me happy day to day. Maybe I will make more lifelong friends but, I don’t need to worry about it because if it’s gonna happen it’s gonna happen!
