Ok, so normally I would just round up, but when I weighed in today at 239.9 I got really excited simply because it’s technically in the 230s, so I felt I should post it that way. I am so close to being down 40 lbs, and I think if I’m diligent I can manage it before this school year is out in May. The only thing more exciting than that is I’m 1 lb away from my halfway point of this years goal, and it’s only April!

How I did it: First off, I love sleep and have been a night owl for as long as I can remember. But this year a very obvious thing hit home for me: I'm going to be a music teacher. Most vocal jazz classes are zero period classes. I'm going to have to get used to getting up early. So this semester I made some serious changes. I used to not typically go to bed until well after midnight, and then I would crawl out of bed in the morning by maybe 8am,… Read how I did it…
How I did it: Picture this: You are clinging to a rope, you can't see anything beneath your feet because of dense fog, so you have no idea how far down the ground is.There are voices above you telling you to climb back up to the top, and voices below telling you to just let go. Climbing back up would be difficult, and you really didn't even like it up there, but it's familiar and therefore comfortable. Letting go sounds so easy, but you don't kno… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I realized, after one particularly bad year, that I needed to stop living the way I had been. That I needed to start communicating with God the way I used to, and even more then I used to. Once upon what feels like a lifetime ago, though it was only a few short years back, I talked with God on a fairly regular basis. I also had those break-down-on-your-knees-begging-and-pleading kind of prayer experiences 1-6 times a month. Then I lost my… Read how I did it…

I lost two pounds this past week and that brings me to a grand total of 35 lbs so far!
Best thing that happened this week: I was at work yesterday, and someone I know fairly well came in to talk to my boss. I hadn’t really noticed that she was there because I was listening to music and engrossed in my work. When my time was up I turned around to leave and she said “Oh, hi! Wow, I didn’t recognize you. You’re shrinking.” Then my boss, who hadn’t noticed up to this point, looked at me for a moment and then echoed the sentiment that I am shrinking. That felt really awesome. :)

So Spring break I went home, had what ended up being a birthday week (not what I intended), stopped paying as much attention to what I was eating, and gained about 4.5 lbs. When I got back to school I lost what I had gained quickly and continued on my way. The moral of the story: When I go home this summer I can’t treat it as “vacation” and make excuses to overeat or eat the wrong things.
Anyway, the 40 lb mark is in sight now, and I want to be there so badly. I’m really happy to have come so far already, but there’s always that part that still wishes I was closer to my goal; I guess that’s the drive that keeps us going on this journey though. I’m moving at a nice pace right now and I hope I can keep it up for awhile.
Hope everyone else is doing well and going strong :)
