I’m taking a polisci class introducing me to law. Very interesting, and I’m going to be taking more classes online.

I’ve been thinking about what type of charity is important to me. Besides the gay rights groups below, I’ve decided to donate some portion to a charity that promotes self-injury awareness and helps those who self-injure ‘heal’ themselves in a different way. I’ll have to look into groups that focus on it.
I want to donate to at least one gay rights group:

“Thanks for thinking of us, STBM, which is more than President Obama is willing to do: I would recommend that you put Lambda Legal (they’re lawyers, they sue) and Freedom to Marry (they’re advocates, they woo) on your list. Unlike most national gay organizations, Lambda Legal and Freedom to Marry do good work and get results. Thanks and congratulations!”
I’m thinking of also donating to NPR (or KCRW specifically), KEXP in Seattle, and a charity that provides health care to Americans. I’m most lost about the health care one—anyone have organizations they can recommend?
(By the way, I don’t mean health care in just a crisis but hopefully the sustained operation of clinics and such.)
