Whenever I feel bored at work I write a letter to anyone I feel like – my friends, a celebrity, the Prime Minister, whoever I feel like inflicting a random letter on. Nevermind emailing, everyone I know likes to receive a letter through the post.
Some of them are complaint based, some are query based, some are compliment-based, some are just plain weird. Whatever it is, it’s good fun to do and worth keeping copies to look back on to wonder ‘what was I thinking THAT day?’ I try to send at least one a week, depending on how much free time I have.

We did this at my house last summer. It was a bit of a lottery whether we each got a strong or weak bottle when we got down to drinking it, kind of like Russian roulette. Either way, it certainly did the job – when I woke up the next morning I had misbehaved to the extent that I couldn’t go back to my local for half a year.

I don’t know if anyone has already suggested it, but I like to draw little (very little!) pictures on money, or write messages. I got the idea from the CD cover of a Rage Against The Machine album. No one throws money away, so whetever you do will go round and round, and it interests me to think of how far it’s travelled around the country, how many people have handled it, and how many have noticed your picture or message. Simple, but fun!
