Having been bequeathd a big box of half-used spools of thread by a friend, when joined with my own existing box there were just too many. Splitting them by fiber (cotton vs cotton-poly and poly vs others) made it much easier to pick the right one for the fabric I’m currently sewing.

Keeping track of what’s on which machine bobbin is more of a challenge if i don’t put them in the right fiber-type box right away!

I learned classical violin as a kid, but I have just as much fun now playing fiddle tunes. Not that I have very many in my head yet, but still enough to sit in the park and fiddle away for a while!

Your local SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) branch probably contains people who play music. Some of them may even be serious about playing real music of their period (before 1600).
