Quit Smoking
Untitled

I quit and now I run 4 miles a day and have not felt better in years. I don’t miss the stinky breath and clothes, and over that past year and a half have saved a ton of money.

All I can say is don’t try to quit unless you really, really want or need to, otherwise you will fail. Just knowing that smoking is bad for you is not really enough (you knew it was bad for you when you started!). You have to have some emotional reason to quit, such as “I hate being an addict” or “I want to be around for my friends and family”. This will sustain you. And use the patch. They rock.

Start a company that survives longer than 2 years
Just started my first software venture

Exciting but scary. After talking to friends and acquaintances about this for the past month I have realized that most people are not cut out for entrepeneurship…. they are so pessimistic about everything and absolutlely in love with their paychecks. Of course I have my doubts too, but nothing is ever certain in this world and you just have to believe in yourself and do it. If you fall flat on your face, get up and do it again.

I just read a great book called “Uncommon Genius” and it looks at the traits of people who are innovative and creative. Here were some of the highlights:

1) Find your talent.

2) Commit to it and make it shine.

3) Dont be afraid of risk. Or even failure, which if seen in its proper light brings insight and opportunity.

4) Find courage by looking to something stronger and and better than yourself.

5) No lusting after quick resolutions. Relax, stay loose.

6) Get to know yourself. Understand your needs and the specific conditions you favor.

7) Break free from the seductive pull of book learning and research and the million other preparatory steps that could delay for the entire span of a life and immerse yourself in the doing.

Watch a space shuttle launch
I cant wait for the shuttle flights to resume!!

A have a friend whose father was and astronaut in the Apollo program (unfortunately he was killed in a flight training accident) . She has said that if I ever make it to a launch she could get me into the VIP section. I really really really need to to this. She says that it is the most amazing thing she has ever seen… the shuttle literally shakes the earth and disappears straight up into the sky. Watching it on TV does it no justice at all…
