Inspiration. 1 year ago

I got a new bento box, which is an adorable, tiny black microwave- and dishwasher-safe one-tier box. Black makes all of the food really pop, and it’s easy to fill, which makes the small size still seem abundant.

As long as I have some tasty home-cooked leftovers and a range of produce, I think I can make a damn good bento for myself. I’ve made 2 this week alone, thanks to the inspiration provided by getting my new box.

Tax refund. 1 year ago

I’ve used my federal refund this year to pay off a large chunk of my highest-interest student loan. In addition to the monthly payments I’m already making for the high-interest loan, if I can put aside $50 each paycheck, I think I can pay it off completely by the end of the year. This particular loan is the biggest headache for me, and if I could pay it off and be done with it I would be well on my way to being out of debt, plus I could divert the money I’m currently using for monthly payments to my other large student loan and start really chipping away at that one.

Chicken "souvlaki" is not as good. 1 year ago

I have this problem.

I get ideas for food, make the food, and then get excited about some totally different type of food.

Last weekend, for example, I decided I wanted Greek food, so I went about making Greek salad, chicken “souvlaki,” and tzatziki. My sweetheart loved all three, but by the time we ate I’d already moved on to craving Thai food.

Sigh.

At least I made kebabs again.
