I'm doing 43 things
Today is the last day that I will be 54 years old, as tomorrow I turn 55. It’s kind of strange that the series of events that took place in May that I perceived to be challenges turned out to be blessings in disguise. My computer crashed and my car was in a fender bender, but I now have a faster running computer and a newer, more stylish car. This past week the air conditioner broke at my home, but I had it repaired so it’s working much better as well. And, to top it off, I landed a good paying job, finally! I’ve been going for interviews all year but hadn’t had any luck. So, this Monday I start my new job, two days after my birthday! Funny how when bad things happen we don’t see the good coming up ahead. And when you start a new chapter, it means you must close the old one.

How I did it: Well, in January I was an extra in an independent film, which was a lot of fun and a chance to work and meet others in the film industry. In February I attended a workshop to become a production assistant, opening my eyes even further to the work involved in making films. Monday June 10th was the official first day of Summer vacation for my grandson. It was also an opportunity for us to take our first road trip in my new car. We ventured out to his favorite water hole for some sun and fun. The hour ride was smooth and scenic. We had an enjoyable afternoon, lounging in the relaxing Guadalupe river. As I delved into the chilly water, I recalled that the last time we’d been here was at the start of the school year last August. But, over lunch my grandson reminded me we’d visited during Spring Break. Since this is his happy place, I hope we’ll be making this part of our magical summer ritual.
Recently, my car was totaled so I went shopping for a replacement.
Well, I found my dream car! It wasn’t the first car I found, but it turned out to be the best one for me because it was the one I drove home. A Silver 03 Cadillac Deville that drives smoothly and has a stylish interior. Thanks, Universe!
