In the past few days a lot has happened. I finished up support for compound file streams, which means you can actually use Lucene4c on an index created by a modern Java Lucene without any messing around, and now I’m working on implementing a higher level interface that lets you work with multiple segments of the index at once. So far I can iterate over all the documents that match a particular term, which is pretty cool.
Also, I’ve been talking to some people at the Lucene top level project at the ASF about bringing Lucene4c on board there, as one of the first ports of Lucene to become official Lucene subprojects. It’s too soon to say for sure, but I think it’s likely to happen.
Sent it off to the editor a few days ago and he replied saying that it looks good and is in the queue to be published next month some time.
Now to find another topic to write about…
