The Beginning! 2 months ago

Well, I started towards this goal about a week and a half ago and it’s just starting to get to that point where things get more difficult. I am determined not to give up! I have my eye on a book on eBay, so when I get that I will learn from it daily and keep at it. Until then, I’m surrounding myself with as much Italian as possible. I’m picking up tidbits from various websites and writing pages of notes. I’m trying to memorise at least one song in Italian. I’m ‘penpals’ with a couple of Italians, some of which I help them with their English in return. I don’t have any movies to watch in Italian yet, so I switched it up and instead watched an English movie with the Italian subtitles on – and it’s surprisingly helpful! You pick up more than you think. I wrote down a few phrases from that. I also watched Italian news, which was interesting to watch but I picked up very few words!

It’s a good experience, so far. Just got to KEEP AT IT! I never seem to finish things I start, but this is one thing I feel like I need to do. Just have to keep that motivation and interest levels high! Every little thing you succeed at really helps though. I got excited when I remember two full lines from the song I’m learning and ‘mouthed’ along with correct pronunciation. The happy feeling you get is the best motivation. =D
