start a tradition of setting aside $50 and let the kids decide who to buy gifts for with it
What I have in mind 4 weeks ago

is buying gifts for someone who needs things, who can’t afford presents or doesn’t have a lot. Maybe one of our family or friends, maybe just a stranger. I hope by doing this the kids will see another side of Christmas and take the initiative in the future to do nice things for others.

Interesting.

We’re having a huge garage sale this weekend!

My big decluttering project is DONE!!! 1 year ago

This has taken me literally years. Everything we are not using is either in piles to sell or give away, or in labeled bins in the basement. I feel like i can finally concentrate on some other things I want to do! I’m very happy! Anyone who is trying to do this, just do a little every day and one day it will be done! I was able to finish this even with 3 kids 3 & under!

I read another book that I got for Christmas, 1 year ago

I received one more and I bought 3 with a Borders gift card, which I received today. I’m on a roll!

Research vaccinations
I read The Vaccine Book 2 years ago

by Dr Sears. I really enjoyed it surprisingly. I feel much more educated on the topic and I’m pretty sure I know how I’m going to handle the kids’ vaccinations from now on. The information on the internet is so conflicting and everyone has an opinion. It’s hard to know what information to trust. I’m going to remove this, but I will continue to educate myself as much as I can.

And I’m putting this off until my house is decluttered. Then it’s time to really get going on this!!!

It's a miracle 2 years ago

I have read 2 books in the last week (well, one I had already started a long time ago, but still). I can relate to DustyJo – every time I try to read before bed I start doing the nodding thing within 10 minutes. Saturday is my morning to sleep in, and I have been waking up a little early and reading in bed when I would normally be sleeping. I think my husband is starting to catch on, but it’s working for me. Reading is helping me feel a little more like me again. I’m happy! I finished Harville Hendrix’s Getting the Love You Want and The Vaccine Book by Dr. Sears. After I read a couple more books I b believe I will have gotten back into the habit and will mark this completed.

Worked on the basement all day today 2 years ago

I’m getting rid of so many things (throwing away, selling, & giving away) and it feels great! I have made over $250 so far selling things, and I should make a lot more in the coming months. I will someday soon be clutter-free!

I think I'm as paperless as I'm going to get, but I'll continue to strive for more paperlessness 2 years ago

I’m done going thru all the files and I just have one drawer in my desk now with important documents and such that I need to keep copies of. I have one small file cabinet and one large one that are now empty! Yay! I downloaded all of the manuals we need in pdf form so I got rid of a box of those too! I still have a drawer that I keep my bills in, and then I’ll throw those out when I pay bills the following month. I think I did pretty well.

No one commented yet. The small black is just a little small on me, but I’m still losing weight from the pregnancy so hopefully someday it will fit perfectly.

This is very, very time consuming 2 years ago

Not like I have that much free time anyway. But I really love the feeling of throwing away all that paper and going from a thick file folder to one with just a few sheets in it, or none at all! If I can manage to finish this, keeping up with it won’t be so bad if I just schedule a scanning/shredding/filing session every week.

Write my twins' birth story (read all 2 entries…)
I finished it 2 years ago

It’s a wonderful happy occasion when babies are born. I want to remember the good parts. This was hard to do and made me sad and angry to write, but now it’s done. I’ll probably reread it a few times and then delete it, maybe tell a few more people about it first, those who might understand. Then forgive. And just remember the feeling of meeting those beautiful healthy babies for the first time.

but I remember staying up late at night until my dad came home from work, so that we could watch David Letterman together.

Prime time tv was a daily ritual for us, 2 years ago

and I’m sure it was the same for a lot of families in that time. My mom would pop us popcorn in a heavy pan and we would eat it out of big plastic bowls with salt, digging for the good pieces. “Old maids” were a prize.
What shows did we watch? I know we watched Moonlighting, and Tales from the Darkside. The latter is now on tv again, and I have been taping it on Tivo. I can’t believe I was scared as a kid by that show! The closet one really traumatized me.

One of my most precious memories 2 years ago

is the time when I got called out of class to go to the office…and my parents had called and had me taken out of class, to go….canoeing!! I have to smile just thinking about that day. And I swore I would do the same for my kids. I loved going canoeing with my dad. It is such a lovely peaceful pasttime. One time we floated by a tree full of snakes and I thought that was really cool!

Guitar Night 2 years ago

We skipped last week because I was so tired. I should have done it anyway. I need to be practicing my chords a lot more often. We’re going to add it to my schedule. Tonight I learned E minor, A & A Minor, A 7th?, A sustained 2, & C. I get discouraged every time because my fingers hurt, but my husband is a great teacher and really encourages me. I think I will really be able to play the guitar someday! Here’s a pic of my guitar.

Feasible or not? 2 years ago

Hmmmm. Thinking about this…
Things to do:
Delete stuff on comp to make room
Find digital manuals and throw paper ones away
Backup files

This would eliminate so many papers that are taking up space in the office but will be time consuming. Is it worth it?
