When I was given a six month temping contract one of the first things I did was set up a standing order with my bank to pay off my credit card debt by £100 a month. I also took the credit card out of my purse so that the balance wouldn’t increase. It took a couple of months to pay off, but I was rewarded with a clearer head and the credit card provided upped my limit by £400.
I’m now going to set up a standing order with the bank to pay off the credit card balance in full each month, in the hope that it will allow me to live within my means and encourage me to use it responsibly. I have been doing well so far.
