Santa brought the kids a canoe for Christmas this past year.
So, this past April we managed to get this canoe secured to the top of the Chevy Cobalt. The canoe is longer than the car. It looked like a canoe with wheels.
I piled the kids in the car and we drove carefully to the nearest lake. Man handled the canoe into the water off the dock, had the kids get in while steadied it, got in and paddled off across the water.
My girl asked if she could stand up and I explained that she could as long as she didn’t mind the cold water. She quickly sat down.
We had our lunch right there in the canoe. My boy tried without success to catch some fish.
Paddled back to the marina before the sun set and pulled the canoe right up on the bank next to the dock.
It was great! We plan on doing this as often as we can.

How I did it: My ex-mother-in-law, believe it or not, asked if the kids would like a canoe for Christmas. So arrangements were made for Santa to deliver a canoe down the chimney.I got life vests for me and the children. I got foam blocks that allow the gunnels of the canoe to rest on the top of the car along with some ratcheting tie-downs. I had to pay the marina at the lake for an annual sticker. Unloaded the canoe from the car and walked it down… Read how I did it…
Still need to sell a house if anyone is Interested. Emergency fund is in place. I have splurged and traded the old Chevy van in for a more fuel efficient Cobalt.
I am currently paying for a house I don’t live in. My soon to be ex-wife and my children are residing there for now. We have had it on the market throught out the Summer of 2007 but the market is flat. We were able to get some good feedback and hope to address some of the cosmetic issues over this Winter. The house is slated to go back onto the market April of 2008. It is in a good neighborhood and a good area for schools. So if anyone would like to buy a 5 Bedroom, 4 and 1/2 bath, with two car garage in Olathe KS please let me know. Asking price 270k with some wiggle room.
