I found an orphanage not far from my apartment and this week I’m going to ask a co-worker to help me call about how to volunteer. I’m excited.

Yesterday I finally bought two new purses. One was 40,000 won ($26). It was more than I wanted to spend, but it was the most attractive one. It is very stylish and it beats my little Vespa tote bag, especially for going out to nice places. I also found a larger purse in the clearance bin for only 9,000 won. It will replace my bag that I take to work each day—that bag has holes in it and the cloth is faded and I was starting to feel embarrassed for taking such a dingy bag to work.
I also found a tan cardigan in a clearance bin for 4,000 won.
I’ve been trying to wear mascara everyday so my face doesn’t look totally washed out. I want to get some tinted lip gloss but I’m anxious about shopping in Korea—the salespeople swarm you everywhere, even if you don’t speak the language.
I’ve studied French five years, German for one, lived in Korea and can’t really speak any of those languages. I’d love to learn and speak Spanish fluently. It will be such a useful language when I move back to America.
I think by July 1st, I’d like to have some Spanish language software.
