So Thanksgiving came and went. The good news: I ended up with a 40:53 which was a PR. The bad news: 54 seconds short of the goal! :)
Here were the splits:
(1) 5:54.21
(2) 5:58.45
(3) 6:42.59
(4) 7:26.15 <—cramped up hard on this mile and had to walk a bit!
(5) 6:57.32
(6) 6:44.63
(.2) 1:09.65
I followed a friend for the first two miles to get the sub-6 splits. After that I couldn’t keep up because of the cramp. Ended up about a minute behind him (he did 39+change).
Oh well: next time! :)

The Applied Materials Turkey Trot is tomorrow in San Jose, CA. Weather is forecast for low 50s (F). This will be a good opportunity although I haven’t done any track work since late August! :( Well the plan is to follow a friend who regularly hits 38+s and see what happens.

I bought an inexpensive fiddle in 1998 after attending the Nevada City/Grass Valley Bluegrass Festival. My sister plays everything (mandolin, 12-string guitar, banjo, etc.) as well and has always been quite talented. I’d like to follow in her footsteps but the fiddle has been on the shelf for almost 10 years!! :) Also, I like the style of David Bass from the Freight Hoppers (how he holds it sideways across his chest).
