By no means a unique tradition, but I’m trying to bring more meaning back into my Christmas by reducing the commercialism that we are bombarded with here in Canada (maybe even North America). To accomplish this, my wife and I will no longer be buying more than one or two presents at Christmas for people at Christmas, but will be donating what we would have spent to a charitable organization. We will vary where we are doing the donation based on something eventful that happens to our family or in the world.
This year, we made a significant donation to UNICEF to celebrate the birth of our nephew earlier this month.
Based on the positive response from those involved, I think we will be continuing this. Have to call this a success. :)

So, I’m on my second full day of wearing them and the longer I have them the more I like them and the more I’m getting accustomed to them.
Taking them out, putting them in are SUCH a pain in the bum….I’m a blinker and have deep set eyes. However, I’m already getting better and better at it….
So, I don’t think I’m going back. :)

So, I went for the all important eye-exam last week. Everything looks good for me, but my prescription is so “odd” that they have to special order my contact lenses – they should be in any day now.
Kinda exciting and kinda scary all the same. I’ve had glasses for over 25 years, so the idea that I’ll go without is kinda scary.
