Almost done! All epoxied up water tight and have paddled a few times. It’s time now to get back in the shop (uh, garage) for final sanding and varnish, deck rigging, bulkheads, and hatches. Then for that other goal…

I have wanted to do this for a while now, but the recreational kayak I had probably wasn’t the best for this. Now, I am hours away from completing the construction of a sea kayak that I built from a kit by Pygmy Boats. This kayak will be perfect for this trip. Plus, the Sacramento Bee (newspaper) recently printed a great article on doing this (“Paddle-tainment”, July 12, 2007). It is about 72 miles and takes about 4 or 5 days. I can’t wait!
