WE sold the house in Highland Park (ghetto) and made so much we now own 3 properties in Colorado. I still work for people in LA from my home office (graphic art) making more then ever. My husband opens a California style restauarnt next week in town. We convinced our best friend to move too. There’s no smog, amazing weather, amazing views, I never have to drive (we’re selling our second car), the schools are some of the best in the country, and Colorado Springs is growing like crazy.

My husband and I sold our house in LA and moved to a remote property near Pike’s Peak, CO. We camped for a month while we built a yurt. No water, no electricity (we had a gas powered generator to power the chargeable tools – and the car adaptor to charge my laptop). After 6 weeks I had to take the kids to a hotel. We bought a house 2 weeks later. We’re keeping the yurt as a vacation house. At least we tried it….
We made a bunch of money in the ridiculous real estate market in L.A. (scraped together a few thousand, bought a tiny house in a crappy neighborhood and sold it 2 years later for double what we paid).
I convinced my employers to keep me on as a telecommuter and moved to Colorado (bought a 6 bedroom Victorian for less than we sold the stupid bungalow for and have views to die for).
There are people in the world that are smart & interesting. Get out of L.A.
