I did it and love it. 17 months ago

I’ve decided to quit eating meat and eggs altogether. I will continue to eat dairy products for now, although I have decided that I will no longer stock dairy products in my home.

I'm loving eating vegan so far. 18 months ago

I don’t eat a lot of meat anyway. A lot of the meat I do eat is lunch meat, which isn’t good for you and I wanted to stop eating it already. Another food I ate a lot that isn’t healthy in the quantities I ate it was cheese. It’s my favorite food.

What I’ve been eating:

This excellent black bean and corn salad that was a staple in my diet before I started this.

Little pizzas made with whole wheat tortillas and a scant amount of veggie cheese. I had bought sauerkraut and thought “hey, that kinda looks like shredded cheese” so I put that on it and it was awesome. Also red onions, broccoli, and carrots.

A bought a box of boca burgers and boca chicken. I probably won’t eat these much cause they’re expensive. I’ve bought these when I was eating meat just cause they are healthier than the real thing and taste pretty damned good.

I’m eating lots of veggies with hummus.

And one of the things I ate every day anyway, oatmeal!

I figured while I’m going vegan, I might as well cut out white flour and sugar and white rice too.

I think I might stick with this veganism thing at least throught the summer while there are so many good, inexpensive fruits and veggies around. I’ll miss the occassional summer ice cream cone, but oh well.

Going veg for a week (I'm going to do 10 days, actually) 18 months ago

I haven’t decided if I’m going to do straight up vegan or not right now. Definitely meat and eggs. Unfortunately, I was not invited to this until after I ate breakfast with chicken in it.

The nice thing is that after that chicken, I have NOTHING in my fridge, so I can start out fresh. So I think I will also exclude dairy products from my diet. Might as well try it all the way.
