log my life in a diary ā what I eat, when and what and how much exercise I do, my dreams, pain and how my body feels, goals set, plans, goals achieved, experiments and their results, work done, study done, writing done, hours of sleep each day ā to motivate myself to persist, to measure my progress, to find patterns of behavior, to spot trends, to discover causes and effects, to learn from mistakes, to guide change, to teach me new good habits and document how I get to where Iām going.
After 7 months off college with chronic pain, just diagnosed as being due to osteoarthritis in both my hips, I want to get back to college to work on my PhD (and complete it successfully!). I’m changing my diet to help (hopefully) ease the pain. I’m doing tai chi daily to maintain my range of movement. I’m swimming as often as I can (well – not really as often as i can – I need to swim more!) to keep fit. I need to read the 14 books I have out of the library, and work on my experimental data, and write a review, and get back into college a little bit at a time, preferably a few times a week, after an early morning swim, even if it is just an hour at a time, and then build it up to every day, and take it from there.
