sometimes the only way that I will do my own decluttering is by helping someone else first. Yesterday I spent two or three hours helping my friend clean out the trash and toys from the van, then vacuum, steamclean upholstery, and wash windows and vinyl surfaces. It feels like a new van! My car got vacuumed as well, in the process. And she made me dinner!
So today I immediately unpacked three annoying kitchen cabinets that hold clutter and unidentifiable groceries, mainly because there’s no light. I put lights inside the cabinets (YAY: I can see, I can see, I’m not going BLIND). I removed the doors from some of the cabinets – which immediately improved the feng shui – (will add curtains instead of doors later). And threw away some old glue, screws, stale cereal, and other junk. Best of all I completed the baking storage cabinet that I started in early summer. The counter top is permanently mounted and will not slip around when I lean on it, and the shelves and cubby holes that needed final finishing touches are finally finished. Phew. Now for a fresh coat of paint on everything, but not tonight.
But that’s not all! I finally finished the bathroom vanity: I cut the counter top and put on the door handles, and now it looks like a real bathroom! And I can actually put stuff on the counter around the sink, like the brush and a towel. what a concept. I’ve been living in a bathroom construction zone since March; I guess this was due.
Now I want to organize the sewing room, but that might entail building an addition …
I feel like I had a very productive, constructive day! And it looks and feels GREAT! happy happy joy joy
