I’ve often thought I could be one of those people who starts up new businesses and makes them successful before moving on to the next thing. My head is just brimming with ideas for possible businesses. Every now and again I come up with a new concept. And often, a few months or years later, I see how someone has done exactly what I had in mind and made a success of it.
For once, though, I just have to take one of my ideas and run with it. Maybe, just maybe this time …

When you stand on that ledge, you really take your courage into both hands and literally will your body over the edge. The self-preservation urge is so strongly embedded in all of us, that your mind really cannot fathom the apparently immense stupidity of what you are about to do.
But afterwards, still reeling and out of breath, you feel an immense feeling of accomplishment. Of knowing and exceeding your own mental limits.

I so agree with this “to do”. I work full-time at a challenging job, and in the evenings and weekends it’s sometimes difficult not to resent the “me time” that I don’t get to have.
But the reward is so rich … just tonight, we all watched the movie Happy Feet after a rushed Easter Sunday dominated by an easter egg treasure hunt. My four year-old sat on my lap and shared his experience of the movie with me. It was such a privilege to get a glimpse into his world. When they panned over Antarctica, he said that one day when he’s big, he wants to go there. And he felt so deeply for the poor, rejected penguin. I put him to bed thinking what an amazing little person he’s growing into.
And that will continue to be the reason I strive to spend more time with them every day, even if it’s short times. Because often I learn more from them than I can ever teach them.
