Elections are something I am absolutely fascinated by. Especially in the Indian context. Each region is unique in its political sensitivities. It is wonderful to see how things that work in one corner of the country earn brickbats in another.
Indian Elections, I believe, are a beautiful canvas on which myriad colours of the Indian republic chaotically converge. And almost miraculously, what emerges is a portrait of a democracy that works.
I want to really see what goes into an election. From the Commission to the politicians to the electorate. I want to follow them all. Politicians amaze me. How do they lie so proficiently? Don’t they ever feel bored by the rhetoric? The electorate!! They ain’t as simple as they look. Believe me!!! I grew up thinking of the average Indian voter as a bumbling idiot who voted for the guy who lied the best. How wrong am I???
How does it work? That’s something I hope to find out and hope that makes up for all the times I’ve been an absent citizen.
